Junior Aysia Booth warms up for her match against Swartz Creek on April 30. Booth and her partner junior Makenzie Schroeder won their match at No. 2 doubles.

The tennis team lost to Swartz Creek 7-1 at home on April 30.

The only winning match came from juniors Aysia Booth and Makenzie Schroeder at No.2 doubles. Booth and Schroeder won in two sets, 6-1, 6-4.

At No. 4 singles, junior Alysa Figgins played a close match, losing the second set in a tie-breaker: 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).

The No. 3 doubles team of junior Jordan Gohs and sophomore Bree Rosenbum also lost the second set in a tie-breaker,  6-3, 7-6 (11-9).

Coach Cory Fisher was glad to see that Schroeder and Booth played well together.

“I was happy to see that reuniting the two, since they had not played together since last season, produced a victory,” Fisher said. “Let’s hope it continues.”

The Hornets next match is a quad on May 2 at Swartz Creek.
