The tennis team prepares to shake hands before a match against Swartz Creek earlier this season.

The tennis team placed third at the Swartz Creek quad tournament on Saturday, May 7.

Midland finished in first place, trailed by Swartz Creek.

Kearsley finished with a total score of 9 points, only 4 points away from tying for runner-up and 13 points away from tying for first place.

Senior Alysa Figgins, at No. 3 singles, and junior Hannah Brackin, at No. 4 singles, both took second place in their flights.

The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Jasmine Patrick and Kelsie Rose also placed second in their flight.

Brackin was impressed with how hard her team worked at the quad.

“It was a long day with all of the rain delays and everything,” Brackin said. “But we all got through it, and we tried our best.”

The Hornets’ next match is at Holly on Monday, May 9.
