Tennis wins two in a row after beating Imlay City

For the first time in six years, the tennis team won its second match in a row, winning 5-3 at Imlay City on April 28.

The singles players won two out of four matches, and the doubles players won three out of four matches.

Senior Hailey Oryszczak, No. 3 singles, won her match 6-1, 6-3.

At No. 4 singles, junior Alysa Figgins also won her match 6-0, 6-0.

Juniors Kelsie Rose and Jasmine Patrick, No. 1 doubles, won their match 6-2, 6-0.

The No. 3 doubles team of junior Jordan Gohs and sophomore Bree Rosenbum won their match in the third set 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

In addition, senior Mackenzie Chappel and junior Taylor Stockton, No. 4 doubles, won their match 6-0, 6-0.

The Hornets were excited over their second win in a row, including Figgins.

“While I was watching the last few matches finish up, I was nervous we wouldn’t win,” Figgins said. “Then the last few players ended up winning, and I was glad. The team really pulled through yesterday.”

The Hornets next match is against Swartz Creek on April 30.
