Tennis ties with Owosso in season opener

Juniors Jasmine Patrick (left) and Kelsie Rose won their first doubles match on March 25 at Owosso.

The tennis team played its first match of the season March 25 at Owosso, tying 4-4.

The singles players led the team, winning three out of the four matches.

Junior Lindsay Nofs, at No. 1 singles, and senior Hailey Oryszczak, No. 3 singles, won both of their sets 6-3, 6-1.

Junior Alysa Figgins, No. 4 singles, also won her match, 6-4, 6-3.

At No. 1 doubles, juniors Kelsie Rose and Jasmine Patrick won 6-4, 6-1.

Rose was pleased with how her season began.

“I am very proud of our win yesterday,” Rose said.  “I hope to continue to win over the course of the season.”

Kearsley’s next match is March 30 at home against Carman-Ainsworth at 4 p.m.
