The boys bowling team swept Fenton and Holly after traveling to Clarkston Saturday, Dec. 9, to bowl at the Cherry Hill Lanes.

The Hornets first faced Fenton, earning a victory 30-0, and then fought with Holly, eventually beating the Bronchos 17-13.

Leading the way against the Tigers, senior Chase Gebhardt bowled a 224 for his highest game, while junior Nathan Maxwell threw a 215 and senior Seth Varner shot a 204.

In their second match, the Hornets took on Holly and had a rough start.

In the beginning of the match, Kearsley started off slowly, losing the first Baker match 189-152 and then dropping the second 226-223. This gave the Bronchos a 10-0 lead.

But the Hornets bounced back, outscoring Holly 13-7 down the stretch.

Varner led the comeback with a 227. Following him were Gebhardt’s 221 and Maxwell’s 199.

In addition, junior Kyle Langworthy rolled a 184 and senior Jake Reid threw a 163.

A highlight of the match was Gebhardt’s strike out in the tenth frame, helping the Hornets earn the victory.

Kearsley pushed its to 3-1 in the league, tied for third place with Owosso.

Swartz Creek is in first at 4-0, while Flushing is in second at 3-0.

The Hornets face Linden on Wednesday, Dec.13, at Grand Blanc Lanes.
