Boys bowling finishes third at Baker tournament

The boys bowling team finished in third place at the Kickoff Baker Classic.

The first tournament of the season was Sunday, Dec. 10, at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing.

Coach Bart Rutledge said the future is looking good for his team.

“Although we were very inconsistent, our team is getting good experience playing at these tournaments,” Rutledge said. “They are starting to come together as a team, and I think things are looking good moving forward.”

The Hornets first took on Saline, and struggled with consistency.

They lost by one pin, which sent them to the losers bracket.

During their second match, the Hornets pulled it together and beat St. Charles with a 34-pin victory.

Kearsley faced New Lothrop next and worked as a team to earn another victory.

After beating the two teams, the team faced off Saline again with only four teams left in the tournament.

But the Hornets needed to beat Saline twice in order to knock them out and stay safe in the tournament. But they did not and were sent home, earning third place overall.

The Hornets face Linden next on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Grand Blanc Lanes.
