He did it again.

Noel Nowacki bested his own record by nearly two seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking his previous time of 1:03.07 with a time of 1:01.73.

Nowacki, a sophomore, won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 Individual Medley in a home meet against Fenton on Thursday, Jan. 22.

Kearsley lost the meet, but the good news for the Hornets was that Nowacki’s 2:11.50 in the 200 IM qualified him for his second individual event at the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association meet. He had already qualified for the MISCA meet in the 200 IM on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The Hornets put together a nice 200 medley team, which placed second in 1:53.20.

That relay team was sophomores Ricky Jackson and Nowacki and seniors Montrell Herrington and Trent Kehoe.

The same four swimmers — Jackson, Nowacki, Herrington, and Kehoe — also placed second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.20.

Herrington performed well individually too, placing second in the diving event and fourth in the 50 freestyle.

Kehoe also went third in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 breaststroke.

The Hornets will next swim Thursday, Jan. 28, against Davison and Powers at Kearsley. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
