Flyers hit a stunt in round three at the district competition on Feb. 20.

Kearsley took fourth place at the MHSAA district competition at Brandon on Feb. 20, which was just enough to advance them into the regional.

With a total of 12 competing teams, Brandon took first, Bay City Central was runner-up, and Clio trailed in third place.

Kearsley was four points away from tying with Clio for third place.

But the top four teams qualified for the next round of the state tournament, so Kearsley advanced.

The cheer team earned 220.8 points for round one, 205.38 points for round two, and 306.4 points for round three.

Assistant Coach Danielle Struck said that the team did “absolutely amazing” at the district competition.

“They really came together as a team and proved to us all how bad they truly wanted it,” Struck said. “I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Kearsley will travel to the regional competition at Holly on Feb. 28.
