Senior Kelsie Rose prepares to hit a forehand in an earlier match this season.

The tennis team lost to the Brandon Blackhawks 6-2 on Thursday, May 5.

Only one singles player came out victorious — junior Hannah Brackin at No. 4 singles.

Brackin won her match 6-1, 6-2.

The last and only doubles team win came from the No.1 doubles team of seniors Kelsie Rose and Jasmine Patrick.

They defeated their opponents in the final two sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Patrick was happy with their win.

“We really wanted to win and weren’t willing to give up despite having lost the first set, so we pushed ourselves to come back and win,” Patrick said.

The tennis team also lost to the Oxford Wildcats 8-0 on Monday, May 2.

According to Coach Corey Fisher, this was their worst defeat of the season.

There were a few solid matches from some of the players, including from Brackin.

She put up a fight, but ultimately lost 6-1, 6-4.

Another strong performance came from the No. 1 doubles team of senior Kelsie Rose and freshman Stephanie Lane.

They gave it their all, but in the end lost 6-0, 6-4.

Rose believed that she and Lane tried their best.

“It was a tough match against a really good team, but regardless of our loss I am proud of the team,” Rose said.

The Hornets are scheduled to play in a quad at Swartz Creek on Saturday, May 7.
