Baseball team drops four games

The baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Linden on Monday, May 9, after losing both games to Davison on Friday, May 6.

The first game against Linden was close, as the Hornets fell 3-2.

Junior Ryan McCoy led the offense with three hits.

The Hornets did not fair as well in the second game as they fell 7-2.

Coach Richard Bennett was impressed with the Eagles’ effort, saying they were “flawless” on both sides of the ball.

Senior Noah Jankowski was frustrated with the losses.

“I think errors really hurt us,” Jankowski said. “We would have won both games if not for the unearned runs. Our hitting was fine.”

Jankowski was also saddened by the two losses to Davison.

“We couldn’t really string together any hits,” he said. “It’s like Coach Bennett says, ‘We don’t have any luck right now.'”

The team fell to 5-15 for the season and is 1-10 in league games.

The Hornets will hope to get their luck back on Saturday, May 14, at the Mt. Morris Invitational.
