Baseball doubles up wins on Swartz Creek, splits with Fenton

Kearsley sweeps Swartz Creek

The baseball team won 2-1 in its first game and 5-2 in its second game at home April 30 against Swartz Creek.

Senior Alex Driskill pitched five innings and gave up one run.

Senior Jacob Lucius scored on an error and senior Marco Rivera scored an RBI double.

Junior Antonio St.John pitched five innings the second game, getting the win for Kearsley.

St. John gave up one hit on three runs, striking out five.

Senior Tyler Kirkwood came in for the fifth inning and pitched two innings. He gave up one run on one hit.

Lucius led the Hornets on offense with two runs scored and two RBI.

Kearsley splits with Fenton

The Hornets lost to Fenton 3-4 in the opener of a double header, but won the next game 3-2 on April 28.

In game one, Fenton railed from a 3-0 deficit to win in extra innings.

In the night cap, the Hornets came back from a 2-0 deficit to win in the last inning.

Senior Richard Bennett and junior Nolan Crannie led the offense with two hits each.

Senior Ryan Walker had three hits, including the game winner.

St. John got the win with Driskill getting the save.

The Hornets plays May 1 against Carman-Ainsworth at Broome Park.
