Boys’ basketball outscored by Raiders

The boys’ basketball team 58-20 to the Flushing Raiders on Fri., Feb. 5.

Senior Deitrick Young led a struggling offensive attack, scoring five points and snagging five rebounds.

Sophomores Tavion Harris and Kyle Palka followed, with Harris scoring five points and Palka scoring four.

Friday’s game was a tough loss for the Hornets, especially for junior Chandler Ford, who is a captain of the team.

“It is hard to lose, but they are a confident team, and we look forward to working hard in practice this week,” Ford said.

The Raiders had a lead for the whole game and were able to knock down many shots.

The running-clock rule took effect in the fourth quarter, as Flushing was up by more than 35 points.

The Hornets (3-12 overall, 2-8 league) have been struggling this season, but are still ahead of Linden in the Flint Metro League standings.

Holly and Flushing are tied for first place in the League.

The Hornets are set to face off with Linden on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Kearsley at 7 p.m.
