Girls’ bowling places third in holiday tournament

The girls’ bowling team took third place in the Bangor John Glenn Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The girls’ bowling team placed third in the 11th Annual Bangor John Glenn Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 12.

The tournament started out with individual games. The Hornets started out strong with a team score of 905, but then fell off with 764. Finally, the team managed to come back for a pinfall of 918.

After the individual games, the Hornets were in fourth place. Senior Alexxa Flood led the team with games of 181, 192, and 204.

Next, the team competed in six Baker games with pinfalls of 166, 210, 144, 177, 189, and 188. This put the Hornets in second place, only three pins out of first.

In the first head-to-head match, Kearsley faced Tawas and came out victorious, moving on to the final eight. For the next match, the Hornets competed against Bay City Western, losing the first game. The girls’ won the next two, advancing them to the final four.

For their final match, the Hornets bowled against Davison.

The match led to one Baker game, which they tied. This resulted in two frames being added and then Davison beat out Kearsley in extras with a final score of 48-28.

Davison went on to face Tecumseh and win the tournament.

The Hornets’ next match will be Wednesday, Dec. 16, against Swartz Creek.
