Softball loses season opener, bounces back

Kearsley softball started off its season Monday, April 10, losing both games in a home doubleheader against Frankenmuth.

The first game was lost 15-0, and the second game they lost 13-3.

The team traveled to Goodrich on Wednesday, April 12.

In the first game, Kearsley defeated the Martians 9-5. The Hornets struggled in the second game, falling in the fifth inning 10-0 due to the mercy rule.

Senior Brittney Dick, captain, was not satisfied with her team’s performance.

“We came out very strong and confident in the first game,” Dick said. “And when the second game started, we lost our energy, like we were only satisfied with the one win.”

The Hornets’ record is now 2-4, and 1-1 in league play. They travel to Fenton to take on the Tigers on Thursday, April 20.
