Working as Kearsley High School’s Attendance Secretary and serving as Secretary to our Assistant Principal Mr. Marks, Mrs. Ayre is one of the bright faces at KHS. Whether she is checking students in in the morning or she’s calling a student out of class, she always creates a welcoming and warm environment when anyone enter her office.
Mrs. Ayre was hired in the district in 2014, before making the move to the high school in 2015. Working at the front desk can be a tedious task. Mrs. Ayre manages the door admitting students and parents, she also answers the phone and helps students with various issues. On top of managing attendance, she also helps Mr. Marks and Dr. Ersig when needed. After working at Kearsley High School for 11 years, Mrs. Ayre says the most rewarding part of her job is the positive impact she has on students. When asked what keeps her coming back every day, she said that the interactions with the students really help her love her job. In a single day, Mrs. Ayre can deal with upwards of 100 students for all different reasons.
She has watched hundreds of students grow and succeed at Kearsley, one piece of advice that she would give to younger students is, “don’t sweat the small stuff.” She wants to remind students that high school is just a stepping stone in a very big life, so focus on taking it all in and enjoying every moment.
Outside of her job Mrs. Ayre enjoys all things sports and staying active, whether that’s watching the Detroit Lions, or working out. In her free time Mrs. Ayre also loves to read and spend time with her family. For a little more than 5 years working out is an outlet that Mrs. Ayre used to clear her head and push herself. Her favorite activity is running and lifting weights, she loves the feeling after a long run or good lifting session. For a while, Mrs. Ayre would dread leg days, but says that they are starting to grow on her.
When asked what one piece of advice that she would give to someone looking to start working out, she said, “everyone starts somewhere, don’t be worried about what other people think and just stay consistent because it won’t

happen overnight.”
Mrs. Ayre loves spending time with her family and friends. Her children are her greatest accomplishment. She has three boys, all of who are extremely involved in sports which translates to her involvement and enjoyment in sports. Her youngest son, Easton, plays baseball, and football. Traveling is a part of being a sports mom, and that is something that Mrs. Ayre has embraced. She has had the opportunity to travel for baseball, but also just for fun. Some of her favorite vacation spots include Mexico, Florida and Alabama, but she loves anywhere that’s warm and has a beach.
When asked what animal she would want to be, her strengths became even more evident, “I would want to be a white tiger, because they are strong, confident, beautiful, and courageous.”
These characteristics are exemplified through Mrs. Ayres’s attitude and hard work. Luckily, Mrs. Ayre doesn’t have plans to retire any time soon. So, you’ll be seeing her friendly face around the halls of Kearsley for a long time!
