The soccer team competed against North Branch at home April 17, winning 2-1.

Senior Kügar Nettell scored both goals of the game.

Nettell tied the game in the first half with a goal.

Then with 20 seconds left in the game, she knocked the final goal past the keeper into the top right corner.

After North Branch quickly scored first, Nettell said the Hornets did not back down.

“Usually, when a team gets scored on they kind of give up,” Nettell said. “But for us, we kept fighting harder, especially in the last 10 minutes.”

Coach Marshall Paterson was not sure if the Hornets would be able to pull out a victory, but he is proud of his team for getting the victory.

Paterson said, “If there is one thing we’ve learned this week, it’s that the game isn’t over until the final whistle.”

The Hornets have a record of 3-1-1 and are set to play their next game at LakeVille on April 23 at 4:30 p.m..
