Bowling places fifth at mixed doubles tournament

The boys and girls bowling teams ended 2017 in fifth place at the Davison Mixed Doubles Holiday Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 30.

The match took place at Kearsley’s home alley, Richfield Bowl.

The Hornets entered 10 mixed doubles teams and made it to the final 32 for match play.

The highest qualifying team was the mixed team of juniors Alexis Roof and Kyle Langworthy.

Four out of seven mixed teams made it to the round of 16, then three of those four teams made it to the final eight.

After the final eight all three were eliminated.

Finishing fifth overall was the mixed team of Roof and Langworthy, following in seventh was a mixed team of seniors Karlee Griffin and Jake Reid, and in eighth the mixed team of seniors Barbara Hawes and Seth Varner.

Roof, Griffin, and senior Emma Boychuk made the All-Tournament team. Roof had the high girls game of the tournament with a 236 game.

Davison came out on top and Genesee followed in second.

The girls will compete again Saturday, Jan. 6, against Clio at Colonial Lanes in Flushing.
