The boys cross country team placed 8th out of 14 teams at their final race of the season, the Division 2 state regional Saturday, Oct. 28.

Corunna came out on top with 36 points, while Flint Powers Catholic was second with 60 points.

The Hornet’s top three runners at the 5K race held at Delta College were sophomore Raydoffa Braziel, who placed 29th in 17:40, senior Donald Martin, placing 36th in 17:58, and sophomore Justice Sutcliffe, placing 45th in 18:38.

Braziel feels it’s a bittersweet ending for his season to come to a close.

“I’m happy that it’s over, but at the same timeĀ I’m sad because it was so short, like I wish I could have done more,” Braziel said. “If I would have put in more effort, I probably could have went to states.”

Braziel’s goal next year is to make it to the state final.

The girls cross country team did not meet the required five runners in order to score.

The top runners were senior Brooklyn Dever, freshman Alexis Jones, and sophomore Ava Kelsey.

Dever placed 59th in 23:25, Jones placed 71st in 24:25, and Kelsey placed 76th in 24:54.
