Volleyball squeezes past Owosso on senior night

Kearsley volleyball defeated Owosso 3-2 on senior night, Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The Hornets won their first game but lost the next two: 25-11, 18-25, 22-25.

This forced Kearsley into two must-win games in order to win the match.

Kearsley controlled the fourth game and won easily 25-14, forcing the fifth winner-take-all game.

The Hornets squeaked past the Trojans 15-12 in the final game.

Six seniors were able to contribute to the win on their special night.

Senior Samantha Roberts tallied 12 digs and two aces.

“Out of all of the games during the season, I felt very happy winning my senior night,” Roberts said. “It was bittersweet playing on the court for the last time.”

Senior Katie Lewis assisted with 19 digs, one ace, seven kills, and three blocks, while senior Maria Mascorro had 16 digs, three aces, and 13 assists.

Finally, senior Desiree Lewis  contributed to the victory with 14 digs, two Aces, four kills, while junior Mackenzie Ramey had 11 digs and 13 kills.
