Soccer kicks off season with a win

The soccer team kicked off its season beating Carman-Ainsworth at home Tuesday, March 29.

The Hornets defeated the Cavaliers 2-0.

Junior Makenna Hass recorded the shutout in the goal for the Hornets.

The two teams were tied 0-0 at halftime, but at the start of the second half, Kearsley took the lead.

Freshman Ariyana Laney scored the first goal, while junior Lexi Kelly scored the second goal of the game.

Kelly was disappointed that the Hornets could not score more but was happy with the win.

Kearsley was under the direction of a new coach — Mr. Damiecko Smith.

Kelly was also impressed with her new coach’s ideas.

“His ideas reflected on the field,” Kelly said.

The Hornets host Lake Fenton at 6p.m. Thursday, March 31.
