This past weekend, three Kearsley Drama Club members went to see “Huck Finn” at the Flint Youth Theatre to support a fellow club member.

Brandon Hart, junior, plays the lead role of Huck in the play.

“We really have put a lot of work into this play,” Hart said. “It is the biggest role I have had at FYT, and I couldn’t be happier with it.”

The play is based on “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” which was a novel written by Mark Twain. The script was adapted from the novel and was written to make Huck the play’s narrator.

The story centers on Huckleberry Finn, who is friends with Tom Sawyer. Tom and Huck reminisce in memories that happened in the predecessor novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”

Huck is forced to live with his drunken and abusive father, who wants nothing more out of Huck than the reward money Huck had to his name.

To get away from his father, Huck stages his own death and departs on a long journey down the Mississippi River where he encounters old friends and new ones along the way.

He (Brandon Hart) is able to play a wide variety of characters and portray them very well.

It was a very well done play and the actors all did great, especially the star: Brandon Hart.

Cami Clarambeau, junior, was one of the Drama Club members who attended the productions.

“I thought that Brandon played the part perfectly,” Clarambeau said. “He is able to play a wide variety of characters and portray them very well.”

Another club member who attended the production was junior Rian Schulz.

“It was a wonderfully written and performed play that was very well adapted from the novel,” Schulz said.

Schulz was pleased with the entire production, as well as with Hart’s characterization of Huck.

Brandon Hart did a wonderful job of portraying Huckleberry Finn, and he remained energetic and in character throughout the entire play.
