Mockingjay catches fire across the world

As many moviegoers know, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2” was released Friday, Nov. 20, and is currently the No. 1 movie at the box office.

“Mockingjay — Part 2” picks up right after Peeta’s attack on Katniss.

Peeta has been hijacked. This means his memories of Katniss are distorted and he believes she is the cause of everything bad happening and that he needs to kill her.

This puts Katniss over the edge.

She wants to kill President Snow herself. It is more than for the sake of Panem — it is now personal.

With Katniss’ help, the rebels succeed in uniting all of the Districts and all that is left is the Capitol, and of course, President Snow.

President Snow does not lessen his torment on Katniss and her friends and family. He plants ‘pods’ (weapons designed to make fun out of their deaths) across the Capitol, making it difficult to get to him.

Katniss and her group must find their way through the Capitol and get to Snow to put an end to it all.

Will Katniss take matters into her own hands and end Snow once and for all?

The Review:

The movie series was amazing, but Jennifer Lawrence made the series remarkable.

She is one of the top paid actresses in Hollywood for a reason.

Lawrence portrays Katniss in the movie perfectly. From highs and lows, she can perfectly captivate the audience and keep them tuned in.

Compared to the book, the movie does not leave much out, making “Hunger Games” fanatics satisfied with the last movie of the series.

The ending sticks to the book exactly, making the movie come to the perfect end.

Hutcherson is also a superb actor in the movie.

When Peeta is hijacked, Hutcherson makes it very believable that Peeta truly hates Katniss and wants to kill her.

There are also many well-known actors in the movie who performed superbly, including Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who died in 2014.

Over all, this movie was great, but the ending dragged on just a bit.

I highly recommend this movie if you want to see an action-packed, emotional, captivating movie. It is important you watch the other movies first though.

The Series Overview:

Here is an overview of each movie for viewers who have not watched them or have forgotten what has happened.

In “Hunger Games” (2012), Katniss Everdeen gets put into The Hunger Games, where children from 13 to 18 years old must fight to the death.

At the Reaping, where tributes are drawn out of a lottery, Primrose Everdeen (Willow Shields) is drawn. She is Katniss’ sister.

Katniss heroically volunteers for her sister and is sent to fight to the death with Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) for their district.

They both win by defying the Capitol and are sent home as victors, but President Snow (Donald Sutherland) is not happy.

In “Catching Fire” (2013), Katniss and Peeta return home, but uprisings start across the districts because of them.

The Quarter Quell comes and Katniss and Peeta must go back into the games.

They are broken out of the games by the rebels, but Peeta gets left behind and the Capitol captures him.

In “Mockingjay — Part 1” (2014), Katniss is recovering from the traumatic experiences inflicted on her from the Hunger Games and worries that the Capitol has killed Peeta or is torturing him.

President Coin (Julianne Moore), District 13 president, pressures Katniss into becoming the face of the revolution.

She reluctantly agrees but has trouble because the Capitol uses Peeta against her.

The rebels end up saving Peeta and bring him to District 13.

All was well until Peeta sees Katniss and he ends up nearly strangling her to death.

This is how “Mockingjay — Part 1” ended and where “Mockingjay — Part 2” picks up.
