Three golfers earned All-League honors at the Flint Metro League Championship meet at Fenton Farms on Sept. 30.

The team fared well, placing third with a combined score of 341.

Sophomore Grace Hoffman, who led the Hornets with 84 strokes, made first team All-League.

Hoffman was excited to earn the honor, after missing out last season by half a stroke.

“It meant a lot because the scores were a lot lower this year,” Hoffman said, “and to have my average go down 13 strokes makes me excited to see how much I can improve next year.”

She also feels like a better golfer this year, and her “mental game” has improved.

“I know what to do for each shot, and I’m a lot more confident,” Hoffman said.

Sophomore Elise Pariseau, who shot a 91, and senior Carryn White, 93, both earned second team All-League honors.

“It was an honor to be with the top girls in the league and represent Kearsley,” White said.

The girls’ season ended at the regional meet in St. John’s on Oct. 7.

The meet, at The Emerald, was rough on the Hornets, as they placed eighth with 402 strokes.

Hoffman and her teammates were sad to see the season come to a close, but they have many good memories.

She is especially fond of those made at the Patriot’s Cup in Frankenmuth on Sept. 3.

“After five holes we were pushed inside due to really bad storms,” Hoffman said. “We sat in the pro shop on the floor for about two hours before they canceled the tournament. The whole time we were talking and, in the end, we still got our Zehnder’s chicken dinner.”
