The girls’ cross country team took fifth place while the boys’ cross country team finished in eighth for the Chesaning Invitational’s Division 1/2 race at Showboat Park on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The girls finished with 135 points, while Walled Lake Northern won with 18 points.

The Hornets’ top two finishers earned medals.

Senior Diane Bond finished in 24:26.4 and placed 16th.

Junior Alexis Kelly finished in 19th place with a time of 25:09.4.

In the boys’ race, Kearsley finished with 184 points. Walled Lake Northern won the meet, scoring 45.

In 31st, sophomore Donald Martin ran a 19:49.9, while senior Deontae Webster placed 32nd in 19:50.3.

The teams race next at the Frankenmuth Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m.
