Tennis drops match against Brandon

Senior Lance Blight, No. 3 singles, hits a return shot. Blight won his match 6-3, 6-4.

The Hornets lost 7-1 against Brandon on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The only winning match came from senior Lance Blight, No. 3 singles, with a final match score of 6-3, 6-4.

No. 4 singles player junior Jacobi Wright lost 6-1, 6-3.

The No. 1 doubles team of seniors Travis Wildfong and Brian Sams lost in the third set, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Senior Josh Walters and junior Dante Schwartz, No. 2 doubles, also lost in the third set with a final match score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-0.

The No. 3 doubles team of sophomores Adam Sefa and Jacob Jackson lost 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomore Meteo Booth and senior Tyler Frasher, No. 4 doubles, won two games in their second set, but lost their match 6-0, 6-2.

Blight believed he was gong to lose the second set but said he “made a comeback.”

“I thought we (my opponent and I) would have to play a third set,” Blight said. “He was up a few games, but I came back to win the match.”

The tennis team’s next match is against Clio on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
