Two students bowl their way to the 2015 Michigan dream team

Seven athletes named to All-State teams

Two athletes from Kearsley made the 2015 Detroit Free Press Michigan Bowling Dream Team.

The Free Press announced the teams on May 1.

Senior Anthony Kelley made the boys’ team and senior Kayla Emmendorfer made the girls’ team.

Only six people in the state make each team each year.

Kelley has help lead the Hornets to back-to-back state titles, averaging 220 this past season.

He has bowled on varsity for four years, and he shot a 300 game during the year, finishing third in the state in singles.

Kelley said it is a “great feeling” to have made the team.

“To be picked as one of six kids in the state is awesome,” Kelley said.

Emmendorfer also made one of the dream teams. With her help, Kearsley won three state titles in 2012, 2014, and 2015.

As a sophomore, she finished third in singles and averaged a 206 this season with two 300 games and a 298.

Emmendorfer has been on the varsity team for four years.

“It was great to be recognized as one of the best,” Emmendorfer said. “It was an honor to be named to the dream team.”

Emmendorfer will be going on to bowl at Arkansas State University after high school.
