People don’t like to read, it’s just the truth. Now, the attention span needed to read an article in full is something you don’t come across very often, if at all. This is the attention that journalism needs to thrive. By taking on journalism as an elective, you sign yourself up to try to create this change in people. As a class, we cover relevant school topics with a candid and unbiased tone. While it seems kind of intimidating, it’s not! If you’ve ever read an article, watched the news, or opened a magazine, you know what journalism is. You also understand how important journalism is, not only for the school, but also for the world.
By joining the class, you sign up to write and design, but also be creative. You allow yourself to think critically, creatively, and objectively. If this sounds even remotely like you, journalism would be a great pick.
