Roof, Blond lead girls bowling team past the Raiders
The girls bowling team stung Flushing in a Metro League match Wednesday, Dec. 12, knocking down 2,480 pins to take a 25-5 victory.
Alexis Roof, senior, dominated with scores of 268 and 216, while junior Imari Blond racked up totals of 259 and 195.
Juniors Hannah Simms and Samantha Timm were excellent in their matches, with Simms toppling 224 pins and Timm taking out another 213.
Sophomore Emilea Sturk bowled games of 211 and 183 pins, while sophomore Allison Eible rolled for 156 in her game.
With a pinfall of 151, sophomore Megan Timm also contributed to the victory.
Winning the first Baker game 246-192, the team took an early lead but was unable to capture the second Baker, losing by 42 pins.
The Hornets upended 404 pins to the Raiders’ 392, giving them a two-point advantage going into the individual games.
Sweeping the first set of games, the Hornets downed 965 pins to Flushing’s 782.
They carried this momentum into the second set, firing up for a 1,111-925 rout and only allowing the Raiders to take one point.
The 1,111-pin tally is the girls’ second team game above 1,100 this season.
With a 4-0 record, the Hornets sit atop the Metro League. Swartz Creek sits behind Kearsley at 4-1. Clio and Flushing are tied for third at 3-1 apiece.
The Hornets will compete at the Bangor John Glenn Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 15, and the Bay City Western Baker’s Dozen Tournament on Sunday, Dec. 16.
