United faced Fenton/Linden at home on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

United is made up of players from Kearsley, Holly, Brandon, and Lake Fenton.

The team was outscored in the first period, going down 2-1. Kearsley senior Dru Sweers scored the team’s lone goal, assisted by Lake Fenton freshman Macgregor Hepburn and Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich.

United roared in the second period with three goals to take a 4-3 lead. Lake Fenton senior Drew Hobson scored the first goal, assisted by Hepburn and Sweers.

Lake Fenton senior Alec Copeland scored the team’s next goal. He was assisted by Hepburn and Lake Fenton senior Aidan Flick.

United’s last goal of the second period was scored by Polutanovich and assisted by Hepburn.

The Griffins tied the game up in the third period and won in overtime.

Hepburn’s four assists continues his point streak to three games.

Kearsley junior Tyler Keller made 26 saves on 31 shots for a .839 save percentage.

The team is on a four-game losing streak and is now 4-6-1 on the season.

United will play at Lapeer on Friday, Jan. 19, at Polar Palace Arena.

Kearsley junior Devin Smith hopes the team will eliminate selfish plays in future games.

“I hope we can play as a team,” Smith said. “You can’t just take it all yourself.”
