United shuts out Port Huron

The hockey team went on the road and shut out Port Huron on Thursday, Dec. 14.

The team dominated the scoresheet in the first period, putting up three goals.

They also scored three goals in the second period and another two in the third to win 8-0.

The team’s goaltender, Kearsley junior Tyler Keller, dominated in net, saving all 19 shots he faced.

Kearsley senior Dru Sweers scored two goals for the team. He has eight goals and nine assists in only six games this season.

Lake Fenton senior Alec Copeland scored two goals and assisted on another for his second three-point game this season. He also tacked on 12 penalty minutes.

Aidan Flick, who is also a Lake Fenton senior, scored a goal and assisted on three of the team’s goals. His four-point game was his highest point total of the season.

Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich scored three assists in the win. He has 12 points on the season.

In only his second game, Holly senior Logan Henry recorded a goal and an assist.

Breaking a five-game scoring drought, Kearsley junior Gerald Balcer scored a goal for United.

Devin Smith, a Kearsley junior, also scored a goal. He has points in consecutive games for the first time this season.

Freshman Coleton Roberts, who attends Holly, scored his first point of the season with an assist. He also collected two penalty minutes.

United improved to 4-3 with the win. They will go on the road and face off with Freeland on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
