Kearsley can be a fresh start for transfer students

Freshman Ryan Lamb transferred to KHS from Richfield Public Academy last year.

When people transfer from one school to another, it  could be for many different reasons.

Some need access to new opportunities while others simply need a new change in their lives.

Some new opportunities could be access to AP classes, more sports such as swim and dive or even competitive cheer

That was no different for the following students.

Sophomore Owen Hughes came from a small high school in Tennessee.

He likes that there are more options for students to choose classes from at KHS. He also said Kearsley’s students and staff are helpful.

Two things Hughes likes in particular are that “people are nice” at Kearsley and he only has to take “six classes instead of eight” like he did at his old school.

Another student, freshman Ryan Lamb, likes Kearsley, especially because he now feels like bigger schools are meant for him.

Lamb came from Richfield  Public Academy, transferring last school year.

“Coming from a little school, everyone knows everyone, and (I) like having more students to interact with,” Lamb said.

Junior Kaylee Brookmon moved to KHS from Davison this year.

Brookmon likes that Kearsley is more laid back than Davison and that the marking periods are in quarters, not trimesters.

“I like that Kearsley has more leniency,” Brookmon said.
