Martin, Jones lead harriers; football loses at Flushing

Cross Country

The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Kayla O’Mara Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 15.

The boys placed fifth out of six teams, with 153 points.

Linden won the meet with 42 points.

Junior Donald Martin finished first for the Hornets in 25th place, finishing his 5K in 18:37.78.

Junior Kyle Palka finished next, placing 36th, running his race in 19:25.38.

Freshman Justice Sutcliffe finished right behind Palka, in 37th place, with a time of 19:28.62.

The girls placed sixth overall, with 154 points, while Linden won, with 33 points.

Senior Savannah Jones finished first for the girls in 23rd place. Her time was 23:00.05.

Senior Lexi Kelly finished next for the Hornets in 30th place, running a 23:52.15.

Freshman Ava Kelsey finished in 34th place in 24:30.46.

Football

The football team fell to Flushing 54-26 on the road Friday, Oct. 14.

The Hornets were not able to score in the first half but picked it up during the second half, scoring 12 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth quarter.

The final game of the season is Friday, Oct. 21. The Hornets will host the Clio Mustangs in a pink-out game to support the fight against breast cancer.
