Slide the City is coming to downtown Flint this summer.

Slide the City, a 1,000-foot vinyl water slide, is coming to downtown Flint on July 25.

There will be music, dancing, food, drinks, and merchandise for sale, so Flint can “soak up the sun in style,” according to Slide the City’s website.

What can one expect on the day of the event?

All people who are over five years old and 46 inches tall are allowed to slide.

One requirement is that participants bring a signed waiver, stating that Slide the City is not responsible for any injuries, along with confirming that any minors riding the slide have a parent’s permission to do so.

Once at the event, check-in at the registration tent to receive a wristband, along with the goodies that go with the chosen pricing option.

If it rains on the day of Slide the City, it will not close. Rain just brings more water on the slide, making the event all the more fun.

Registration for Slide the City will open in the next month.

There are three pricing options for the event, and one option is the single slider pass.

This option includes a wristband that is valid for one time on the slide, along with a mouthguard. The pricing for this option is $15 in advance, $20 during the registration period, and $25 at the event.

The only “catch” is that riders need to bring their own inflatable tubes to go down the slide, but tubes will also be available for purchase at the event.

The second package is the triple slider pass, which includes a wristband valid for three times on the slide, along with a tube, a mouthguard, and a water gun.  This option is $30 in advance, $35 during registration, and $40 at the event.

The third option, the VIP slider pass, gives riders the opportunity to slide an hour before the slide opens and an hour after it closes. In addition, the pass grants riders an unlimited number of slides, a mouthguard, a tube, and a protective hat. This package is $50 in advance, $55 during registration, and $60 at the event.

It is recommended that carpooling, biking, or public transportation are used to get to Slide the City, since there will not be many parking spaces near the event.

Ms. Meredith Dalenburg, Slide the City’s Flint event director, said the event will bring Flint a day of family fun.

“There is plenty to do all summer in Michigan, and lots of fun runs, but there is only one Slide the City. A 1,000 foot slip ‘n’ slide, local food vendors, fun music, and tons of fun!”
