Tennis takes third at regional

On Thursday, May 16, the tennis team hosted an MHSAA Division 2 regional, and the Hornets took third place with 11 points.

Traverse City Central won the event with 29 points, while Petoskey came in second with 27.

Senior Stephanie Lane lost to Traverse City Central in the semifinal in two sets 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, senior Valerie Entenmann won her quarterfinal in three matches: 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

She then lost to a Petoskey player in the semifinal in two sets 6-1, 6-1.

Senior Chloe Clarambeau, No. 3 singles, beat an Alpena player (6-1, 6-0) in the quarterfinal. She lost in the semifinal to a Traverse City Central player 6-1, 6-1.

The Hornets advanced in three of their doubles flights.

Seniors Mickeely Dias and Brooklynn Smith, No. 1 double pair, lost their semifinal to Mt. Pleasant 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

At No. 2 doubles, seniors Giulia Amato and Emily Jones won their quarterfinal 6-3, 6-0, and lost in the semifinal to Traverse City Central 6-1, 6-0.

Junior Kasey Palmer and senior Briahna Greer won their quarterfinal against Alpena in two sets, 6-2, 6-2. They then lost their semifinal to Petoskey with two sets of 6-1.
