The golf team carded a 201 to Brandon’s 206 at Pine Knob Golf Course in Clarkston on Tuesday, April 23, earning the team its first victory this season.

Senior Logan Loyer lead the team with a 49.

Seniors Tyler Gronauer and Stephen White followed close behind with 50 each. Senior Devin Smith shot a 52.

Loyer said the weather proved to be a challenge for the Hornets.

“We played hard yesterday,” Loyer said. “The wind and the chill didn’t aid us, but we played through it. These weren’t our best scores, which means we have a lot of room to improve.”

Gronauer agreed that conditions were less than favorable.

“Personally (it was) not my best performance,” Gronauer said. “The course (was) pretty tight. The winds made it very hard to even keep the ball in the fairway at times. We kept our heads down and tried our best despite the conditions.”

White hopes to improve his personal performance for future matches.

“Personally, I need to improve on my short game,” White said, “including my putting and my chips.”

The Hornets will take on Clio at the Flint Elks Country Club on Wednesday, April 24.
