Seniors Tyler Gronauer (l to r), and Stephen White led the Hornets against Fenton. Despite its efforts, the team lost 181-198 on Wednesday, May 15, at the Flint Elks Country Club.

The golf team lost to Fenton 181-198 at the Flint Elks Country Club on Wednesday, May 15.

Senior Tyler Gronauer led the Hornets with a 45.

Gronauer was confident in his performance but sees room for improvement.

“The course is super tough,” Gronauer said. ” Personally, I feel (like) I played decently. My fairway play and shots off the tee were very clean and accurate, but I struggled to gauge and speed in my putts and read the greens.

“As a team we just struggled against a good team playing a very difficult course.”

Seniors Stephen White and Logan Loyer aided the team, carding a 47 and 50, respectively.

White said the course served as an obstacle for the Hornets.

“I think, as a team, we struggled against the difficult course that is the Coyote Preserve,” White said.

Kearsley is now 1-6 in the Metro League.

The Hornets will partake in the Post-Season League Tournament at Fenton Farms on Monday, May 20.
