Students are ready to boogie at prom April 27.

One of the most memorable events of every student’s life is coming up: prom.

Prom is one of the few nights where students (mostly upperclassmen) can dress to the nines and dance the night away.

This year, prom is April 27 at the Lapeer Country Club.

With less than a month left to prepare, students are anticipating a fun night.

Why are you looking forward to prom?

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone dress up and make tons of great memories,” Harris said. “Also seeing everyone happy and having a great time.”

What kind of outfit do you plan on wearing?

“I plan on wearing a gray Euro-fit custom tux with purple stripes,” Harris said.

How has the cost of prom affected your level of excitement?

“The cost of prom hasn’t affected the excitement I have for prom and the great memories I plan to make,” Harris said.

Sophomore Bethany Karram

Why are you looking forward to prom?

“I’m looking forward to getting to spend time with some of my amazing friends who I’ve become close with during my time at the high school so far,” Karram said.

What kind of outfit do you plan on wearing?

“I went dress shopping with my friend (senior) Abby (Bellmer), and she helped me decide on a long dress that I love,” Karram said.

How has the cost of prom affected your level of excitement?

“Now that my dress is bought, I’m super excited,” Karram said. “I was worried I wasn’t going to find one. But now that I have it, I’m super anxious for prom to come in the best possible way.”

Why are you looking forward to prom?

“It’s a fun time to hang out with friends and dance and let loose,” Vaughn said.

What kind of outfit do you plan on wearing?

“I am going to wear a tux matching my date’s dress,” Vaughn said.

How has the cost of prom affected your level of excitement?

“I’m still excited, doesn’t matter the cost,” Vaughn said.

Why are you looking forward to prom?

“Because I like dressing up and getting my hair done,” Shattuck said.

What kind of outfit do you plan on wearing?

“I plan on wearing a ballgown dress,” Shattuck said.

How has the cost of prom affected your level of excitement?

“It hasn’t really made a difference,” Shattuck said. “Prom is prom, so I’m excited either way if it’s expensive or not.”

Senior Madeline Raysin

Madeline Raysin, senior, is happy to dress up one last time for a high school dance.

Why are you looking forward to prom?

“Hanging out with friends and having a good time,” Raysin said. “Also being able to get dressed up for the last time.”

What kind of outfit do you plan on wearing?

“I plan on wearing a form-fitting, off-the-shoulder, maroon dress,” Raysin said.

How has the cost of prom affected your level of excitement?

“It’s iffy,” Raysin said. “I feel like there’s going to be more to it but also wondering what’s actually going to happen.”
