The halls of Kearsley High School have been buzzing with excitement as students prepare for this year’s spring musical, The Wizard of Oz. Colorful costumes, songs, and a dedicated cast and crew, the production is shaping up to be the best school musical yet.

The Kearsley Cast will be covering the entire story of Oz, from Dorthy getting swept away from home and landing in a magical land. She goes through Oz trying to find a way home. Along her journey she finds friends to help her find the Wizard. They travel across the golden bricks facing troubling times. They meet a lot of antagonist characters who get in the way and try and persuade them in a different direction
Leading the cast is Sophomore, Teaghan Boven, who takes on the iconic role of Dorthy. Alongside Dorthy are her unforgettable friends: the Scarecrow, played by Sophomore, Mason McGinnis, the Tin Man, portrayed by Junior Eden Fleming-McClard, and the Cowardly Lion, brought to
life by Sophomore, Landin Struck-Curtis.
Behind the scenes, a hardworking team ensures that every detail comes together. The production is directed by Amber Schroeder, who has spent months organizing rehearsals
and guiding students through the creative process.
The stage managers, led by Senior Madison Prevett, Junior Jadon Craft, and Sophomore Elliena

Simpson, have been busy designing and building sets that transform the school auditorium into the magical land of Oz. Meanwhile, the costume team, headed by Senior Natalia Carranza, has created vibrant outfits that capture the spirit of each character. While makeup has been designed and presented by Senior Emma Sellers.
The music of Oz is brought to the show from music directors, Eric Schroeder and Zachary Smith.
Senior London Struck-Curtis, has been a big part in making this play come to Kearsley, she will be playing the role of the Wicked Witch of the West. When asked how she feels on the progression of the musical she answered, “I love the people. The people truly make the production. I have good hopes for us and how we will deliver the story.”

Rehearsals have been taking place from 5-8 Monday through Thursday for a while, students have balanced their academic expectations along with their commitment to the production. But many rehearsals have proven to perfect plays in the past.
The musical will occur at 7pm on April 24th and 25th, and from 2pm on the 26th in the Kearsley High School Auditorium, with tickets available for students, staff and community members, online and at the doors.
Opening night approaches, excitement continues to build. With its talented cast, creative crew, and timeless story. The Wizard of Oz Kearsley High School edition is something you will not want to miss.
