Cheer finishes in third place at Linden

Kearsley took third place at the Metro League cheer competition hosted by Linden on Feb. 11.

It was the final league competition of the season, and Kearsley ended up third place overall in the Metro League.

Brandon, who ended up league champions, won the competition, was trailed by Clio, who finished the league in second place.

With a total score of 729.72 points, the cheer team was 8.36 points away from tying for runner-up.

Kearsley earned 224.5 points for round one, 200.92 points for round two, and 304.3 points for round three.

Sophomore Hailey Baltosser said she was “pleased” with the team’s performance and hope’s that they do “even better” at next week’s competition.

“Districts is just around the corner, and the team’s goal is to place in one of the top four spots to progress to regionals,” Baltosser said. “With hard work and dedication, we can make that happen.”

The MHSAA district competition is up next for Kearsley. It is Feb. 20 at Brandon.

Teams that finish in the top four qualify for regional competition.
