United falls to Freeland

United faced the FNV Griffins at home Tuesday, Jan. 23.

United had a great first period, leading the Griffins 3-1 at the intermission.

Lake Fenton senior Alec Copeland scored the first United goal, assisted by Kearsley junior Trevor Keller.

The Griffins scored a goal soon after that, but Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich scored his 10th goal of the season to regain the lead. Copeland and Kearsley senior Dru Sweers assisted on the goal.

Holly senior AJ Incammicia broke a seven-game pointless streak with United’s final goal of the period. Copeland and Holly senior Logan Henry assisted on the goal.

Freeland dominated the second period, shutting out the United offense and scoring four goals. Three of the goals came on the power play.

United was able to score two goals in the third period but fell short to the Griffins 8-5.

Lake Fenton senior Lochlan Hepburn scored one of United’s third period goals. He was assisted by Incammicia and Copeland.

Polutanovich scored his second goal of the game. Sweers assisted on the goal.

Sweers is the team’s leading scorer with 17 goals and 15 assists.
