Five freshmen share their high school experience

Pushing through tight hallways, adjusting to tough homework, and preparing for exams can be difficult to cope with for freshmen.

Five freshmen share their experience of high school so far.

How did you feel about starting your first year of high school?

“At first I was scared,” Payne said. “Then, after the first two weeks, I got back into the flow of things.”

How has your freshman year gone so far?

“It’s good so far. I have got good grades, great teachers, and I’m in class with my friends,” Payne said.

Who’s your favorite upperclassman? How did you meet her?

“My cousin Hailey Anderson,” Payne said. “I met her when I was born.”

Marisol Martin had a stressful start to her freshman year, but she said it is getting better.

How did you feel about starting your first year of high school?

“I am a little nervous but very excited to be in high school,” Martin said. “It’s a big change for me at least.”

How has your freshman year gone so far?

“My freshman year is a little stressful, but it’s been getting better,” Martin said.

Who’s your favorite upperclassman? How did you meet her?

“Maikayla Josling,” Martin said. “I met her at band camp.”

Breanna Harris has spent her hectic freshman year befriending students

How did you feel about starting your first year of high school?

“I felt nervous. I didn’t know anyone at first,” Harris said. “But now, slowly but surely, I’ve befriended people.”

How has your freshman year gone so far?

“It’s gone OK. It’s been kind of hectic running from class to class to be on time,” Harris said.

Who’s your favorite upperclassman? How did you meet him?

“My favorite upperclassman probably would be Kristopher Perry,” Harris said. “He’s basically my favorite because he talked to me when no one else did. He also introduced me to many others, which expanded my social circle. I met him in health class after I switched out of gym.”

How did you feel about starting your first year of high school?

“I felt pretty good about it,” Raysin said.

How has your freshman year gone so far?

“Good, nothing bad happened,” Raysin said. “I have all A’s and I am doing tennis.”

Who’s your favorite upperclassman? How did you meet him or her?

“Chase Lang, because he plays tennis and that’s how I met him,” Raysin said.

How did you feel about starting your first year of high school?

“A little excited,” Griffith said. “And nervous at the same time.”

How has your freshman year gone so far?

“So far freshman year has been fun.”

Who’s your favorite upperclassman? How did you meet him?

“My favorite upperclassman is Jack Vollmar because he is a role model for me,” Griffith said. “I met him at tennis.”
