Starting the school year in a positive way is important for students, and attending school is a good way to begin.

Mrs. Angie Ayre, attendance secretary, said attending school is important, and she also said this year’s attendance is better than last year’s at this time.

“It (attending school) sets the tone up for your future and the rest of your life,” Ayre said.

The good news for Kearsley and its students is that attendance is  superior.

During the week of Sept. 26, the attendance rate at KHS was 92 percent. The week after that, Oct. 3, it was 93 percent, and the next week, Oct. 10,  was a 94 percent.

Junior Kyle Palka is a student who believes attending classes is important because it helps students get better grades.

“Grades are super important,” Palka said. “They lead to college and basically the rest of your life. You can’t reach good grades if you only show up once in a while.”
