Snow days are meant for relaxation, snacks

Senior Jacob DePottey spends most of his snow day relaxing.

When I first woke up at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, I decided to start getting ready.

After I got dressed and brushed my teeth, I decided to check Twitter before further getting ready for school.

To my surprise, there was a snow day.

As I was scrolling through my Twitter feed, I read at least 50 different tweets about the same thing – no school.

Even though I still saw grass as I looked out of my window to see how much snow had accumulated, I did not question this blessing.

So I put my pajamas back on and went back to sleep.

I woke up around 11 a.m. in a fantastic mood since I was able to catch up on some much-needed rest.

I started off my snow day by eating a bologna sandwich for breakfast. It was not as good as McDonald’s would have been, but it was still delicious.

Afterward, I went to my girlfriend’s house equipped with snacks, still in my pajamas.

We started off our snow day festivities by watching “Gossip Girl,” her favorite TV show.

She was pretty entertained by it while, on the other hand, I kept falling in and out of sleep.

After a few episodes, it was time to do homework.

Grueling over a computer monitor, I wrote my entire independent study essay for physics about the Big Bang Theory.

I pulled through the essay, but once it was time to start my Microeconomics homework I decided I had done enough for the day and, yet again, chose to blow it off until some other time.

After this I decided the bologna sandwich had worn off and it was time to eat.

I had corn dogs for lunch and a variety of snacks throughout the day.

Once it was time to eat dinner, I had eaten so many potato skins that not even a deep dish pizza from Little Caesars sounded appetizing.

By this time I was STILL in my pajamas and decided to just stay in them for the rest of the day and have a “Harry Potter” movie marathon.

Why get other clothes dirty when I can just stay in warm, soft, and comfortable pajamas?

In my opinion, snow days are best utilized by taking the day to relax.

Catching up on some homework, eating an endless supply of food, sleeping, and watching movies are the best activities to do on snow days.

Have some fun while taking a much-needed break from school, thanks to Michigan’s outrageous weather.

Hopefully, we will get even more this year.
