Amidst COVID-19 and the many weeks of distance learning, Kearsley High School has held elections for class officers.
Freshman Thomas Brewer won President for the class of 2023. Brewer was the only one who ran for any position for his class.
Sophomore Kelsey Caughlin became President for the class of 2022 and this is the first year she ran.
“I ran because I wanted to make this school year one to remember for everyone,” Caughlin said.
Caughlin wants to get her class more involved.
“I want to get the class more involved and make everyone more included, and help with fundraising to make our senior year run smoother,” Caughlin said.
Gavin Balius will be working alongside Coughlin as her Vice President.
“I ran because I wanted to make our school a better place,” Balius said.
Mattalin Bailey will be Secretary and Molly Gunn will be the Treasurer for the class of 2022.
Natalie Miller won class President for the class of 2021.
“I wanted our class to have a change, and I knew that I could help with that,” Miller said. “Although I knew people wouldn’t think I had a good mindset I did. I want to have more class activities that involve everyone and that everyone could enjoy. I also want to create fundraising that everyone would be willing to be involved with.”
Saniaa Walker will be Miller’s Vice President.
“I wanted to run for VP because I felt like for our last year in high school, we needed new people in office,” Walker said. “We needed a change and I wanted to be part of bringing my classmates together to have a great time for our last year.”
Malaya Stevenson will be class Secretary and Elayna Kash will be the class Treasurer as they look to help make the senior class of 2021 the best yet.
