The golf team lost to Swartz Creek on Tuesday, May 7, at the Flint Elks Country Club, carding a 197 to the Dragons’ 170.

Senior Logan Loyer led the team with 46 strokes.

Loyer said he is disappointed in the outcome of the match but still hopes to have a fun season.

“The match was tough. The odds were against us,” Loyer said. “We all played our best and gave it our all. My performance started out great, but I crumpled on the last three holes.

“I’m hoping to play golf well enough to have fun, and I hope to strengthen my friendships with my team.”

Tyler Gronauer, senior, assisted the team with a 48, and senior Stephen White carded a 49.

Gronauer said he was frustrated with the weather during the match.

“My performance yesterday wasn’t at all what I wanted it to be,” Gronauer said. “But it’s the nature of the game. The course was soaked, so it was just tough course conditions.”

Kearsley is now 1-4 in the Metro League.

The Hornets will face Owosso on Tuesday, May 7.
