Richards, Walker, Ramey take charge of girls track

The girls track and field team lost to Brandon and Flushing on Wednesday, April 24.

Sophomore Linnearia Richards led the Hornets on the track with four top-three appearances.

Also leading the team with a first-place and three second-place finishes was sophomore Saniaa Walker.

The Hornets lost to Brandon 92-43 and lost to Flushing 112-23 on Wednesday, April. 24.

Walker placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.81. Following behind her was Richards with a time of 13.73, placing third in the race.

Walker placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.96.

Senior Mackenzie Ramey competed in the shot put event, placing first with a distance of 37 feet, 5.5 inches.

In the discus, senior Mary Wheeler fought hard, placing second with a toss of 94-04.

Richards placed second in the high jump with the height of 4-10.

The team of Richards, Sydney Walker, Stacia Tipton, and Saniaa Walker placed second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 52.94.

The same team of Richards, Sydney, Tipton, and Saniaa placed second in the 800 relay with the time of 1:53.80.

The Hornets will be in action on Wednesday, May 1, against Holly and Fenton.
