On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the quiz bowl team faced Clio, Linden, and Brandon, beating all three teams.

During the first match against Clio, the Hornets dominated with a score of 400-130.

Junior Connor Earegood led the team to victory with six questions answered in round one, along with six in round two.

Junior Cameron Gohs also contributed two questions in round one and one in round two.

With eight answers in the worksheet round, the team held a dominant position against an undermanned Mustang squad.

The team’s second match against Linden ended with a score of 280-205.

Kearsley was behind by 60 points going into the worksheet round. During this round, the team trimmed the Eagles’ lead and set up a comeback in round three, which resulted in the victory.

Senior Tyler Jamison was critical in answering questions for the team, while the team capitalized on bonus questions.

In their last match of the day, the Hornets defeated Brandon with a score of 540-140.

The team answered many mental math questions in the match, which Gohs buzzed in to answer with ease.

Scoring eight out of 10 questions in the worksheet round also helped the Hornets buzz.

The team answered 15 correct bonus questions, 150 points of their dominant performance.

The team is currently 5-0 for the season, tied with Flushing for first place in the Metro League.

Due to earlier meet cancellations, the team will face the same three schools on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Lapeer High School.

Oxford and Swartz Creek

Quiz bowl started its Metro League season with victories against Oxford and Swartz Creek on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at owosso High School.

The first round was against Swartz Creek. The Hornets dominated, winning 300-175.

The second round was against Oxford. The team won with a score score of 385-200.

Junior Connor Earegood led the team to victory with five questions answered in round one, and eight in round two.
