Girls basketball defeats the Trojans

The girls basketball team downed Owosso on the road Friday, Jan. 11.

Girls basketball defeated Owosso 67-26 on Friday, Jan. 11, at Owosso.

The Hornets took control of the game from the beginning and led the whole way.

Senior Zaria Mitchner was the top player of the game with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds, and four steals.

Senior Mackenzie Ramey and junior Sydney Walker also added many points to the scoreboard. Ramey scored 12 points and Walker added 11.

Ramey felt that this game was a strong game for the team.

“It went well. This game was definitely the best offense-run game that we have had,” Ramey said. “Even though Owosso ended up being easier than we expected, we went in believing that they would be the hardest to beat.”

The team’s record is now 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the Metro League. The Hornets are tied for second place with Flushing. Fenton leads the league at 6-0.

Kearsley hosts Brandon on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
