The competitive cheer team stunted its way to victory.

The cheer team took fourth at the Brighton Best Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Each team was competing into the same competition regardless of what division their team is in.

First place went to Brighton with a total of 780.86 points.

Hartland earned second place with 766.16 points.

Third place went to Jenison, who earned 688.22 points.

The Hornets’ took a total of 662.88 points.

Kearsley earned 208.50 points in round one, 195.28 in round two, and 259.10 in round three.

Senior Madison Kreinbrink said the team has room for improvement, which is why it placed fourth.

“Yes, it all went well except for round three. It needs a little work. That’s what cost us third place,” Kreinbrink said. “The Division 1 teams got top three, so I’m pretty proud of us.”

Freshman Carly Wilson said the competition exceeded her expectations.

“It went better then I would have thought it was going to go,” Wilson said.

The team’s next competition is Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Holly for its first Metro League Competition.
