The boys bowling team finished third place at Bay City Western Baker’s Dozen event, Sunday, Dec. 16.

Competing in the Bangor John Glenn tournament Saturday, Dec. 15, and the Bay City Western Baker’s Dozen tournament Sunday, Dec. 16, the boys bowling team placed sixth and third at the events, respectively.

On Saturday, the team was knocked out in the round of 16.

Senior Devin Smith feels the team played better Sunday but still has room to grow.

“I still think there was room for improvement we could’ve made,” Smith said. “(One of them being) making more spares.”

He plans to focus on the team’s next match, a duel of unbeaten teams, which will be against Owosso on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

“It’s another match against a team that’s undefeated,” Smith said. “(We need to) stay on our game, focus, and never let up.”

Anchor Kyle Langworthy, senior, sees the struggles as practice for the future.

“People have to stay positive and still have the drive to win,” Langworthy said. “If we just keep up what we’re doing and practice harder, we can make a run at states. This weekend was a good practice for what’s to come in March.”

While the Hornets are 4-0 overall and sit at second in the Metro League, if they beat the Trojans, who are 5-0, they will move into the leading spot.
